RecommendMariana makes her leap into Putumayo's Artist series with a fine example of Chilean divas. Not completely unkown, Montalvo sang with Chile's Los Machucambos. Now on her own she is bound and determined to make a name for herself and with material like this it won't take her long. With Cantos del Alma she performs almost all original material aside from a couple of Serge Gainsbourg tracks. Inspiration for some of the lyrics come frome some female Latin American poets. Her voice is seductive and the music is soothing providing a perfect dinner soundtrack. The album takes you straight to Chile and although you don't speak the language you feel rigt at home. Find out why influential Putumayo chose to put this fine release out on their Artist subsidary.
