California-native Greg Laswell took to an Arizona cabin to write and record his latest album Take A Bow. Strangely, there's not much on the album in terms of sound that would betray that recording atmosphere.
The album is a collection of mostly pop rock songs. Occasionally sweeping, like "My Fight (For You)", but mostly understated, the songs fail to leave much of an impression, either positive or negative.
There is the odd stroke of brilliance, such as the glorious hook of "In Front of Me". But all too often the songs get mired in bland adult-oriented rock. The most egregious example being "Around the Bend", with its slightly-more-masculine-than-Coldplay feel.
In the end, Take A Bow is an inoffensive record, but one that probably won't amount to much more than background music.

A great effort from a seasoned artist, with definite flaws and faults.
