Some Luna fans may argue that the definitive Luna album is Bewitched as opposed to Penthouse. For me, and its all about me, Penthouse is slightly ahead of Bewitched as a favorite Luna album. It is Luna’s third studio offering. When you hear tracks like “Chinatown� (my favorite Luna lyric ‘You’re out all night chasing girlies / Your late to work and your go home earlies’), “23 Minutes in Brussels�, and the bonus track of the super amazing cover of Serge Gainsbourg and Bridget Bardot’s “Bonnie & Clyde� with Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier you can’t deny that Penthouse is a great album and an inspiration to others. Dean Wareham’s idol, Television’s Tom Verlaine, helps out on “Moon Palace� and “23 Minutes To Brussels�. Wareham has the type of voice that takes a bit of getting used to with his melancholic delivery and his witty lyrics. As well, the guitar solos really don’t get better than this. There is no doubt that a Luna album is like a fine wine, it just gets better the older it gets.
