Femi Kuti has no hope to getout of his fathers shadow and comparisons are inevitable. The styles that Femi has chosen echo familiar with his late fathers work and he has no choice but to carry on the flame. Fela Kuti Anikulapo was an African activist that used his style of tribal funk and jazz (afro-beat) to get people to listen to what he had to say. Femi is taking his fathers word all the way and becoming very popular along the way. The catchy single "Beng Beng Beng" is a hit in the UK and slowly gaining momentum on American shores. The music itself is a great addition to what has become known as Afro-Beat which is like a funky jazz with many sorts of African beats and rhythms thrown in. The last track on here is a great Roots remix of the track "Blackman Know Yourself". Apparently Femi's live show is not to be missed either.
