Logh - Every Time A Bell Rings An Angel Gets His Wings
I really can’t believe that Angel Gets His Wings is the debut album from the Swedish band known simply as Logh. This album was originally recorded in 2000 and early 2001 and released in Scandinavia on Bad Taste Records. Now Deep Elm has found them and giving this album a proper release. While Deep Elm is known for it’s emo roots, lately they have been branching out a bit. Logh is a lo-fi band that has everything going right for them. While some lo-fi bands can get kind of tedious and boring, Logh keeps the listener interested with layers of sounds going on. You’re not going to jump up and start dancing but it’s a great album for background music. The quiet guitar playing is totally elegant on tracks like “Yellow Lights… Band member Ulrika Matsson describes the band very aptly, talking about comparisons between this album and the bleak landscape of Sweden in wintertime–“Constant fog, sun never really shaking off its morning greyness, abandoned old farms and bent and twisted weeping willows roughly following the path of a road that no one ever uses anymore. There are a few surprises along the path but generally you know what to expect. Logh has provided us with a brilliant debut.
