It's not that often I get a Greek band landing on my desk, let alone a Greek progressive metal band. Now you know as much about Persona Non Grata as I do. Shade In The Light is the groups debut which has been done for a while but only now is getting a proper international release on the Sensory label. First listen I am presented with lofty vocals and impressive instrumental arrangements. The album opens with "Dual Unity", demonstrating what this group is capable in a powerhouse progressive style. You don't get all of the anal solos that you do with bands like Dream Theater. Instead, the band works together as just that, a band. But remember, this is prog and you will see some of the solo stuff (see the title track for example) but it never gets to the point of annoying.
I found with each listen new elements of the music were presented, suggestion Shade In The Light will be one of those albums that will get better with time, as is the case with a lot of good prog metal albums.
So even if you just dabble in progressive metal, you would be wise to seek out Shade In The Light. This is an amazing debut from these Greek metal dudes. Watch for Persona Non Grata to make waves in the metal world.
