This isn't going to be where I tell you about the largely under-rated band, Screaming Trees and how Mark Lanegan led them for many years. It's not where I am going to tell you to run out and buy every solo album (4 including this one) that Mark has ever put out. What I am going to tell you is that I'll Take Care Of You is one of the finest cover albums ever done. Mark walks in and fits these 11 rare tracks on like his most comfortable suit. His friend, Mike Johnson (Dinosaur Jr) helps out with guitar and his former band mate Barrett Martin plays the eerie vibes that he does so well. Ex-Soundgarden bassist Ben Shepherd makes a couple appearances too. The tracks Mark has chosen include ones by Fred Neil, Buck Owens, Brook Benton, Tim Hardin, amongst many other even more obscure artists. This album isn't just for fans of Mark; it's for anyone who apreciates a good voice paying homage to some great songs.
