This domestic band got it’s start in 1998 in Ontario. Adrian Murchison (Bass), Lee Penrose (Drums), and Phil Williams (Guitar) met in high school and started a post-rock style band. The band recorded their Thousand Yard Stare with ex-Junkhouse member Dan Achen producing. Two years later they tried it again, this time with Daniel L. Burton. It took them two times to get it right but when you listen to Kitchens and Bathrooms Utter A Sound CD you tend to think that they have been playing for much longer than they have been. Their music is along the lines of Chevelle or Steve Albini’s Shellac but with even more dimensions taking place. The album kicks off with the powerhouse “Tri-Coastal Grievances and really doesn’t let up much after that. Call it math rock, call it post-rock, post-Slint, whatever. Kitchens and Bathrooms have a great sound and prove themselves to be worthy musicians. Check Utter A Sound out if you get a chance.
