Being a member of Efterklang's live band and having played various instruments on albums by the likes of M Ward and Zooey Deschanel you'd expect Broderick's solo album to be similar either to Efterklang's chaotic post-pop, Ward's alt-folk or Deschanel's complete tosh. In fact, he has made an album of beautiful, bare, folk songs. Opener "Games", a two minute long, lyric-less song of harmonies starts the album off brilliantly. Only voice, various recordings and a nylon guitar are used on the track but they work to a marvellous standard. The song ends with the sounds of fellow Efterklang speaking at a rehearsal in Danish. The second track on the album is "And It's Alright" and it sounds like a bonus track on Bon Iver's 'For Emma, Forever Ago' (in a good way). "And it's alllllll, it's alright", he says, which is true; it definitely isn't the best on the album. The greatest song on the album is easily "below it", at times his voice sounds so perfect and harmonious that he could disguise himself as a member of Fleet Foxes and nobody would notice. Finally, final song, "Games Again", not unlike the similarily titled first song, doesn't end with a bang but instead slowly fades out. Perhaps bangs are no longer needed.
