I've seen my fair share of pianist singer songwriters lately. While the genre may not be one of choice for me, one of the better singers to pop up is Valerie Nicole out of the Reading, PA area. With the help of her band, they create an upbeat acoustic blend of jingle and jangle.

Most often the melodies are in a gracious but poppy pace. Songs like "Livin In The Moment" and from the heart, showcase Valerie's ability to change her tone and lyricism with a rollercoaster instrumental tempo. "Live your Dreams" has the right direction, but its just missing something, and I cant seem to put my finger on it.

 At times Nicole can push the envelope of her vocal range a bit too far, and I can't tell if she doesnt have the range, or if there's too much angst in her voice. Other than a few lyrically repetitive tracks, Valerie Nicole should find a terrific niche fan base with more exposure and experimentation of her vocals.
