I'm sitting here listening to PepperDome, and other than a piercing instrumentation, I'm left with nothing. The vocals here are atrocious on every single track. Almost to the point where I hate to admit I even like the instrumentation. Songs like "Give Away" and "Tigers in Boxes" would be worth three or even four stars had the vocals been performed by someone with more tone, more vocal range.
More than anything, indie projects are always well respected, but the truth is, this package was so poorly put together that the title track "(Let's Try) The Otherside" has a typo on the digital file I received. Bottom line...despite the very iconic Black Sabbath riffs throughout this recording, I am far from impressed, and have very little constructive to say about a man who is doing his best to pull a Serj Tankian singing things such as "Oooca acca hay, shiney bling wahooo". I'm sorry PepperDome, find yourself a respectable vocalist and a song writer..I will be interested to see if any progress can be made from here.
