Inside Wants Out is often overlooked, as the album came out before the beginning of John Mayer's pop popularity. We have a more acoustic, lo-fi Mayer. It's refreshing, with no Your Body is a Wonderland in sight.
Many of the songs on the album (Back to You, My Stupid Mouth, No Such Thing) have been covered more slickly by Mayer on later albums. These are probably best enjoyed by fans of Mayer who want to hear him in his earlier days, but are still overall fairly solid acoustic sounds.
Inexplicably, the two best songs on the album -- Love Soon and Comfortable -- are rarely played by Mayer. The former deals with the awkward what-could-we-be stage of an relationship, the latter with ending one.
