Library Voices - Library Voices
Regina, SK is not exactly known as a hotbed of indie rock. However, the 10-piece indie pop collective Library Voices may just change that.
The band has recently released a fantastic EP. The group's Myspace page proudly proclaims "pop as fuck" and it's a claim that I would find hard to dispute.
The six songs on the self-titled EP are sugary sweet ditties, drenched with some of the best vocal harmonies, catchy melodies, clever lyrics, and quirky instrumentation that you could ever ask for. On top of that they can count to four in Spanish (unlike a certain U2 singer).
The songs have an instantaneous appeal. The result is an I'm From Barcelona-meets-New Pornographers blend that makes it impossible to shake the earworms out of your head, even after you've heard a solitary chorus.
I'm sure in real life Library Voices would be kicked out of the library for being too loud, but it would be a hard task for anyone except the most cold-hearted for bibliophiles to do (they reference Kurt Vonnegut in a song title for Pete's sake).
I can't wait to hear a full length.
