Taylor James is first and foremost a storyteller. Between a career in filmmaking, a brief stint in professional wrestling and over a decade of playing music, the goal has always been to tell a story.

After spending the majority of his formative years dropping to D and C to play metal and punk in Bostonian VFW halls, Taylor picked up an acoustic guitar and embraced standard tuning and a capo. While his peers were discovering sex, drugs and rock & roll for the first time in college, Taylor was finally hopping on the Cash, Dylan, Against Me! and Bright Eyes bandwagons. Riding the heels of his newfound musical love, Taylor and his friend Greg formed the NYC-based folk-punk outfit, A Fistful of Dynamite. Fistful spent the next two years touring the Northeast playing basements, parking lots, coffee shops and clubs for a small but passionate scene. Despite playing in bands before, this was where Taylor really cut his teeth. These intimate shows exposed him to the magic that can happen when one can connect with an audience.

The performance and touring chops really came in handy once the other band Taylor was in, Plushgun, scored a deal with Tommy Boy Entertainment (in the US) and Ministry of Sound (in Germany). He spent a solid three years touring the US, Spain, Germany and Canada playing guitar and showman in the indie/synth/pop outfit. After some creative and personal differences, Taylor moved on and relocated to the opposite coast to pursue filmmaking.

You can take the man out of the music but you can't take the music out of the man. Taylor has been slowly amassing a stockpile of honest, catchy tunes that are shot from the hip. The chord progressions dance between their country, pop and punk inspirations. While the musicality is far from revolutionary, it is in his lyrics and sincere delivery that he thrives. Taylor James is a storyteller and he wants to take you for a ride.
