A collection of musicians like no other, SICK CITY brings melody, maturity, and energy.
Hailing from the Prairie tundra smack in the middle of Canada (Winnipeg, Manitoba) this five piece has already proven in 1 short year that it can and will turn heads in the year to come. Comprised of members of many local bands SICK CITY tears your heart and mind apart with its shredding guitars, solid and unique drums, intense and memorable melodies and mature song writing.
With the addition of poetic front man Josh Youngson (the Novella) and bassist T.J Stevenson (the Recovery) in late 2004, Joel Neufeld (drums), Dorian Paszkowski (guitar), and Dave Grabowski (guitar) of local skate punk heroes Fast Track, finalized their lineup and began writing songs that would better display their wide range of musical tastes. After only a few local shows in the spring of 2005 it was very apparent that SICK CITY was a force to be reckoned with in the local music scene.
After doing a short tour in the summer of 2005, which included a spot on the Ernie Ball stage of Warped Tour, SICK CITY dedicated the fall of 2005 to record it’s first release, a 5 song EP that will display everything this band is capable of and leave you wanting more. From the driving and unforgettable riffs of “In the Millions” to the emotional story of “Ace High and the Crowns” this EP takes you on a journey through the ups and downs of life and love. With songs like the sing a-longable “Smiles & Cries” and “XX & XY” bound to end up in your head for the rest of the day SICK CITY’S appeal is undeniable.
Members of this band have been on many Canada wide tours, played 1000’s of shows, and recorded numerous albums. Although the band itself is quite young, the members range in age from 19 to 29 and it shows in their diverse sound and entertaining live shows. Experienced, talented and dedicated SICK CITY has already caught the ear of high profile local and international producers and is ready to take on the world.
