Background & Name
The group, displaying obvious Nordic backgrounds, goes by the name "EYELESS," derived from one of Mr. Scud's favorite Norse words. Coming from Old Norse, "auga," meaning "eyelike" or even literally "eyeless," is a word that has a double meaning. It is also depicted through their works that EYELESS enjoys making double meanings through their songs and lyrics.
In an early interview regarding how the name of the group came about, lead vocalist, Scud, replied with, "There could be a hidden meaning, such as inner sight; "eyelike" so to speak. But on the other hand this can be simply music for the blind. It is really your own call." Later on, he added, "You could open your eyes to the things going on around you, or just close your eyes and enjoy the sound and the ride."
The following is an excerpt from the liner notes from one of their earlier albums: "The group led by Viking frontman, Scud. With souls of Viking warriors living within in his blood, he is awakening them with the stomping sounds of the beginning revelation. The lost will be led and the endless sea of EYELESS avatars shall be awakened, so the halls of Valhalla can finally be reached by the lost ancient ones living amongst us."
Style and Influences
The EYELESS performance style and sound is often described as an eerie, atmospheric musical composition mixed with elements of hip-hop and rock.
