is a 4-piece rock outfit from the greater Philadelphia, PA area. The band consists of bassist Kevin Mooney and guitarist Matt Buckley who share vocal duties, accompanied by lead guitarist Brad Holstine and drummer Harold Echols. Each member of the band has participated in numerous local musical acts for over a decade and has remained active in the music scene. After having crossed paths several times and collaborating on a few projects, Drop Anchor officially formed in Fall of 2007. The band draws heavily from the music they grew up with, exploring a modern take on raw rock/grunge and post-hardcore influenced by the likes of Quicksand, Failure, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana, and Queens of the Stone Age.
Drop Anchor has recently released their second EP entitled From Patience to Contempt. This six-song album is an indicator of the band's continued evolution and coalescence, displaying a generally more concise approach to songwriting and performance. To the point and frill-free, this is the band's tribute to the raw, riff-driven, grunge-y alternative rock era of the 90's, melded with the more exploratory approach of their 2008 release, Parallels. In addition, a music video for the track "Always Tempting Fate" is currently in production in support of the album. With the sole purpose of getting the music out to as many listeners as possible, From Patience to Contempt is in digital format for free download from the band's website
, and will also be available on CD from the band at each of their performances at no cost.
Drop Anchor can be found regularly performing in and around the Philadelphia, PA area. Equipped with the newly released EP, they plan to expand their reach and fanbase while continuing to steadily write, record, and release new music. Contact the band
